Learn about our adaptation of Keith Campion's wonderful WW1 novel, "The Last Post"...
The Last Post
WHOLE SCHOOL FIRST WORLD WAR
Keith Campion's highly acclaimed debut novel has had praise lavished on it from teachers all over the country and we are excited to be bringing it to the stage!
“We were all just desperate men who wanted to be home for Christmas with the ones we loved; our hearts torn between the duty to our country and the warmth and shelter of our families.”
"The Last Post is an emotional read and I defy anyone not to be moved by this skilfully written and highly meritorious debut by Keith Campion.
It has been written from the heart and hopefully it will inspire a new generation to research how their own family was affected by these events.
This book needs to be shared so that this period in our History is not forgotten nor the extraordinary braveness of those men. I would recommend this book to adults and children alike.
It needs to be in every Upper KS2 classroom "

"This is an incredible book!
I read it in once sitting. It is a heart wrenching, historically accurate tale of love, loss and remembrance told through letters.
I can’t wait to use this book when I teach my class about WW1 and the suggested activities in the back will make planning so much easier.
This is a must read!"
"I’m a Year 6 teacher; I bought this book to use in our WW1 topic. It’s exactly what I was hoping for!
It is beautifully written as a sequence of letters between a father fighting in the trenches and a son who’d been told the war would be over by Christmas.
There are also questions at the back that can be used for comprehension activities.
I would highly recommend for using to enhance a WW1 topic in school"
